Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. The essay is underdeveloped, with only one body paragraph that lacks sufficient supporting evidence or examples. While the prompt asks for an opinion on whether helping others is the most important aspect of being rich, the response only briefly touches upon this and fails to provide a balanced or fully explored argument. The conclusion is also incomplete and does not adequately summarize the main points. Due to the severe lack of length and depth, the task is only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there are some attempts at paragraphing, the transition between the introduction and the body is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and often incorrect manner, such as 'In the result it makes stability'. Referencing is frequently unclear, particularly with the use of pronouns like 'he' and 'their', which lack clear antecedents. The overall structure is fragmented, making it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's line of reasoning throughout the short text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic phrasing. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'contemporary discord' (likely meant 'discourse') and 'help of others not relies on money'. The student struggles to use less common vocabulary effectively, and the phrasing often sounds unnatural or imprecise. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly, and the errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'growing rate of individuals says' and 'help of others not relies'. Sentence structures are often faulty, particularly in the introduction and conclusion, where sentences are incomplete or lack proper grammatical links. Punctuation is also inconsistent. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often poorly constructed and contain significant errors, limiting the range and accuracy of the grammar.
