IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, many individuals believe that rich people should support others where they have enough money to do that. I strongly agree with this given statement, as I believe people should stand by others in every situations as many of them cannot afford food or medicine as well.
From one perspectives, in my home country, there are millions of thousands people who survive for daily essential things like foods, clothes, shelter and also for medical. Moreover, rich or wealthy people should support them in tough situations. For an example, one of my close friend Brijesh, he working with an IT company where he gets a handsome amount as a salary and he used to do charity in every month. He donates foods, clothes and sometime he visit the government hospitals as well to support those who cannot afford the medicines. Providing these helps can work like blessing as he already doing this from last 5 years.
From another perspective, most of people are belongs to a middle class family and living average lifestyle. Furthermore, they also can contribute some to the society as per their earning to help poor people. For an example, I am working as a business women since last 2 years and now I have a startup business into Export field. I am not earning a handsome amount yet from my business, still I use to do some charity work for others. Sometimes I used to feed local dogs and cats and sometimes I used to feed people who cannot afford good food.
To conclude, in our society, the number of poor people are increasing day by day due to high tax, unemployment and so on. In my point of view, wealthy people should help others who cannot afford daily essential things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of the idea that wealthy individuals should help others. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide personal examples, such as your friend Brijesh and your own business experience, these anecdotes are not fully integrated into a broader discussion of the societal implications of wealth. The argument remains somewhat narrow, focusing heavily on personal charity rather than the systemic or moral aspects of the prompt. To reach a higher band, you should expand your arguments to include more general societal perspectives, ensuring that your examples serve to illustrate a well-developed point rather than just describing personal experiences.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover,' 'From another perspective,' and 'To conclude,' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'From one perspectives' (which contains a grammatical error). Additionally, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The logical progression is generally clear, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved by ensuring that each sentence flows more naturally into the next, rather than relying on repetitive sentence starters.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'charity,' 'unemployment,' and 'essential things.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'survive for daily essential things,' 'handsome amount as a salary,' and 'most of people are belongs to.' These errors indicate a limited range of vocabulary and some difficulty with precise expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more sophisticated academic vocabulary to replace basic phrases, which will help you convey your points with greater precision and style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('he working,' 'most of people are belongs'), article usage ('in every situations'), and tense consistency ('he already doing this'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and lower the overall quality of the writing. To achieve a higher band, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors in verb forms and pluralization. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy is essential.
