Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of the idea that wealth provides an opportunity to help others. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention education and crime reduction, these points are not fully extended or supported with specific examples or logical depth. The second paragraph shifts focus to government responsibility, which is slightly tangential to the core prompt about the role of the wealthy. To improve, ensure that every paragraph directly supports your main argument and provides more detailed explanations or real-world examples to substantiate your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' without smooth transitions between sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'it' or 'there' which do not always have a clear antecedent. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence flows logically from the previous one to create a more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'rich', 'money', and 'help'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'works with dealiy life cost' and 'make there responsibility'. These errors occasionally make the meaning difficult to follow. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a broader range of vocabulary, including synonyms and more precise academic collocations. Avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay and focus on using words that accurately convey your intended meaning in a formal context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'having a lot of money give you'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'Few have describe'), and confusion between homophones like 'there/their' and 'there/their'. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, leading to run-on sentences or fragmented thoughts. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and correct tense usage, before attempting more complex structures.
