Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to address the prompt effectively. While it touches on the topic of wealth and helping others, the ideas are fragmented and lack a clear, consistent position. The essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the development of arguments. The content is repetitive and often drifts into irrelevant discussions about government policy rather than focusing on the prompt's core question regarding the importance of wealth as a tool for helping others. The lack of a clear structure and the failure to meet the length requirement significantly impact the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks logical progression. Paragraphs are poorly defined, and sentences are often disconnected, making it difficult to follow the writer's train of thought. There is a lack of cohesive devices; instead, the text relies on repetitive sentence starters like 'And' and 'Then'. Referencing is frequently unclear, such as the use of 'her' to refer to 'poor people' or 'families', which creates confusion. The overall arrangement of ideas is disjointed, and the lack of a coherent introduction or conclusion further hinders the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'Rish' for rich, 'nuild' for build, 'expandichers' for expenditures, 'cherities' for charities). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the misuse of words often impedes the reader's understanding. There is no evidence of an attempt to use less common lexical items or idiomatic language. The persistent spelling errors and limited word variety indicate a very restricted lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that distort meaning. Sentence structures are simple and often incomplete or run-on. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, pronoun usage (e.g., 'provide healty food to her healths'), and tense consistency. Punctuation is also problematic, with many sentences starting with lowercase letters or lacking proper terminal punctuation. The lack of complex sentence structures and the high frequency of basic errors make the writing difficult to read and understand.
