Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often claimed that wealthy people have the opportunity of helping others and they should consider it as the most crucial activity about being rich. In my opinion, although I totally agree that financial ability offers wonderful chances to support the needy ones, the decision of aiding depends on the individual's attitude and perspective of whether they take it as a priority.

It is undeniable that in today's modern world, money plays an indispensable role in every aspect of life from meeting basic needs to maintaining luxury lifestyles. If they contribute even a little amount in improving the the impoverished life, this will create a large impact in society's overall development. They can take part in this aiding programs in various ways such as donating clothes or basic items, initiating programs related to creating career opportunities, etc. Since, they are themselves the source of money, they will sponsors their own program which will ensure their program runs smoothly without any scarcities.

Nevertheless, not all rich think like they should help others. Everybody holds different ambition, and the parameters of how much wealthy a person is a subjective issue. A person even after having enough money will not consider himself wealthy and try to invest more on him before contribute his resource to others wellness. Conversely, some people with little resource still try to help others. It's all about mindset, even many rich will choose to utilize their resources to make new businesses, launchings more institutions in order to make more profit. Hence, in spite of having financial capabilities, they will try to keep their wealth to themselves.

In conclusion, while wealthy people get the chance of becoming a part of helping others, its up to people's mindset if they want to utilize that opportunity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and establishes a clear position throughout. In the introduction, the writer states their view that while financial ability offers wonderful chances to support the needy, helping depends on an individual's mindset and priorities. This position is supported throughout the body paragraphs. In the second paragraph, the writer explains how wealthy individuals can contribute through donations and career-building programs, mentioning that they can sponsor their own initiatives. The third paragraph explores the counter-perspective, noting that not all wealthy individuals prioritize helping others due to differing ambitions, investments, or a desire for business expansion. While some ideas like "how much wealthy a person is" could be more thoroughly polished, the arguments are relevant, extended, and well-developed, satisfying the Band 7 criteria.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay presents a clear logical organization and progression throughout. The response is divided into four distinct paragraphs with an appropriate introduction and conclusion. Paragraph two discusses the potential ways rich people can help, while paragraph three transitions logically using "Nevertheless" to discuss why some choose not to. Cohesive devices are generally used effectively, such as "In my opinion," "It is undeniable," "Conversely," and "Hence." However, there are minor cohesion and referencing flaws, such as the dangling reference in "If they contribute even a little amount in improving the the impoverished life" where the antecedent for "they" is slightly ambiguous until context clarifies it. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, maintaining overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task. Less common lexical items are attempted, such as "indispensable role," "impoverished life," "financial capabilities," and "parameters." However, there are several lexical errors and awkward collocations that prevent a higher score, such as "the needy ones" (instead of "the needy"), "improving the the impoverished life" (repetition and collocation error), "how much wealthy a person is" (ungrammatical phrasing), and "launchings more institutions" (incorrect form). Spelling is generally accurate, but word choice inaccuracies in collocation and phrasing place this firmly at a Band 6.0 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses ("If they contribute...") and concessive clauses ("while wealthy people get the chance..."). There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include "the decision of aiding depends" (should be "aiding others" or "aid"), "Since, they are themselves the source of money, they will sponsors" (incorrect comma usage and tense agreement with "will sponsors"), and "not all rich think like they should help others" (missing noun, e.g., "rich people"). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from achieving a Band 7.
