IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The issue of whether the most important thing about being rich that is one has the opportunity to help others has sparked considerable debate. Some believe that being rich is not the one of the most important thing that has the opportunity to help others, while others argue that
if you are rich than you cannot help out others only.
In my view,i believe that you do not have to be rich to help other peoples, because you can not help people only when you have money you can also help people without being rich in different ways e.g., you can help them by doing their physical work and help out in their problem, give them solution.
One of the main reasons why I strongly support that you do not have to be rich in life to help other this is just becuse money is not everythinhg. Many kindhearted people try to help other with no benefits. They try to do their best to help out other in any problems. For instance, if their is a road acident happen than no one care about how rich they are they all are just trying to get them hospital as soon as posible.People try to protect you have save your life without knowing how rich and well established you are.
Another reason I firmly believe, if are kind hearted and humble person you always try to be kind and help other in every situation.A good example of this is if you try to help other without being greedy than it will help you as well in you future life.
However, the argument is not entirely in-valid because sometime you have to be rich to help out people. e.g., Someone is very poor and they do not even afford the food so you can only help them if you have a money.
In conclusion, while there are arguments on both sides, I firmly believe that money donot buy haapiness because sometime you help out other and for other this help is very meanto them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether helping others is the most important aspect of being rich, presenting a clear position that you do not need to be wealthy to help people. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive. The writer introduces relevant examples, such as assisting during a road accident or providing physical support, but these points are under-developed and lack the depth expected for a higher band. There is also some confusion in the phrasing of the opposing view in the introduction. The position is maintained throughout, but overall development falls into the Band 5 to 6 descriptor range, where ideas are present and relevant, but need more extension and clarity to achieve a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays a basic overall organisation with distinct paragraphs used for the introduction, body points, counter-argument, and conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, informal abbreviations like 'e.g.', and mechanical cohesive devices. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in sentences where pronouns do not clearly refer back to their antecedents. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks fluency. Sentences often feel disjointed rather than logically chained together, reflecting the features typical of Band 5, where organisation is visible but progression lacks overall clarity and cohesive devices are overused or inaccurate.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive throughout the essay, relying heavily on simple words such as 'help', 'rich', 'money', and 'people'. There are frequent word choice and collocation inaccuracies, including phrases like 'money is not everythinhg', 'road acident happen', and 'money donot buy haapiness'. Spelling errors are noticeable ('acident', 'posible', 'in-valid', 'meanto', 'haapiness'), and attempts to use less common vocabulary are minimal and often grammatically flawed. The lexical range is minimally adequate for communicating simple ideas, placing the response firmly at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The essay demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences using conjunctions like 'because', 'if', and 'while', these structures are frequently faulty and fraught with errors. There are persistent basic grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('money donot buy'), missing articles, incorrect verb forms ('have save your life', 'if are kind hearted'), and run-on sentences. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and obscure the intended meaning in places, which aligns closely with the Band 4 descriptor.
