Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response presents a clear position regarding whether helping others is the most important aspect of wealth, acknowledging the benefits while noting other relevant factors. However, the candidate fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 186 words instead of the required 250 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas and results in an incomplete essay that cuts off mid-sentence in the third paragraph. While the introduction and first body paragraph attempt to address the prompt with relevant examples such as corporate social responsibility and poverty alleviation, the lack of full development and the premature ending restrict the task achievement score to a Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates some logical organisation with a clear introduction that outlines the writer's stance. Paragraphing is attempted, and transition markers such as 'At the first place' and 'Furthermore' are used to connect ideas. However, cohesion becomes problematic due to the abrupt ending of the text, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'when its come to donation'. There is a lack of overall progression because the essay is cut short. Cohesive devices are somewhat mechanical, placing this criterion at a Band 5.0 level.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for an academic task, including terms like 'economic status', 'corporate social responsibility', and 'alleviate'. However, there are numerous noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling throughout the text. Examples include 'essential attribute' instead of 'attributes', 'Whilist' (spelling), 'preception' (perception), 'capcaity' (capacity), 'make expense', 'rich community' (instead of the rich), 'resouces', 'techology', and 'alliveate'. These errors highlight a limited control over less common lexical items, leading to a Band 5.0 score for lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as introductory participial phrases ('Considering the notion...') and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is weak due to frequent errors, including missing articles ('working of both individuals', 'rich population helps to'), subject-verb agreement issues ('Economic status... are'), and incorrect prepositions. Furthermore, punctuation and word formation errors are present. Because complex structures are frequently faulty and errors cause some difficulty for the reader, the grammatical range and accuracy align with a Band 5.0.
