IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that the greatest advantage of being rich is having the ability to help people financially. I largely agree with this view, because sufficient wealth allows them to create several opportunities to support individual and communities. Nevertheless, wealth also provides other personal benefits like, financial freedom, security and higher standard of living.
Rich people have more resources to help those who are les fortunate. They massively participate in donations, charity work, provide food and education to the poor communities. They can offer assistance during natural disasters and other emergencies. For instance , a businessman can fund scholarships to talented students from low income families, allowing them to higher studies which they cant afford. In this way, wealth can positively impact not only the individuals life but also on society as a whole.
Moreover, wealthy people can also contribute long term opportunities on a society level. Instead of giving money to individuals , they can invest in hospitals, schools, universities, clean water project, and offer other employment opportunities. Such action can help communities to grow independently and improve their quality of life.
However, helping others is not merely benefit of being rich. Financial security can also give the better comfortable life, better health care, and access of higher studies for themselves and their family. It can give a freedom to choose better career, world travel or start business without constantly worry about money. Person can never help other who are continuously struggling for their own basic needs.
In conclusion, i agree that being rich and helping other is a most valuable aspect. But personal freedom and financial security is also on of they privilege of being wealth. Ultimately, they greatest value of wealth is using it responsibly , to improves one's own life and also contributes the well-being of others.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear and well-developed position that wealth offers a primary opportunity to help others while also acknowledging other personal benefits. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as a businessman funding scholarships and investments in community infrastructure like schools and hospitals. The arguments are generally well-reasoned and logically support the overall thesis. While there is a slight tendency to over-generalize in places, the task is fully addressed throughout, meeting the criteria for a solid Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, starting with the introduction, moving to individual assistance, long-term societal contributions, alternative benefits of wealth, and a summary conclusion. Cohesive devices are used adequately, such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'In conclusion', though referencing and transitions are occasionally slightly mechanical (e.g., 'Such action can help'). Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to structure the flow of ideas, earning this section a Band 6.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task. Less common lexical items are attempted, such as 'financial freedom', 'natural disasters', and 'infrastructure' (implied by projects). However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'les fortunate' (less fortunate), 'contribute long term opportunities on a society level' (contribute to), and 'access of higher studies' (access to). Spelling and morphological slips do not impede overall communication, placing this comfortably in the Band 6.0 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over relative clauses and conditional-like structures. However, frequent grammatical and punctuation errors persist, including missing articles ('allow them to higher studies', 'on a society level'), pluralisation errors ('individual and communities'), and prepositional issues ('access of higher studies'). There are also occasional agreement and punctuation errors, such as the misplaced comma in 'For instance , a businessman'. Because errors occur regularly but rarely impede overall comprehension, a Band 6.0 is awarded.
