IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
It has been observed that help others who are in need is the greatest benefits to experience in life. Although some people believe that being rich means it is crucial to help others in their cirtical situations. I agree the given statement to a large extent. My inclination is elaborated in ensuring paragraph and relevant examples.
The foremost arguement to justify my stand is that an elite people have more than enough money to live in their daily life and they can easily afford a financial help to people who suffer financially. This means that people who earn good money and live with all high quality facilities would look after below poverty people who survive to eat basic meals and pay fees for the education. For example, in America in big cities there are so many rich businessmen and company owners who live wealthy lifestyle and they provide big amount of money to people to buy daily ration and basic survival things.
Furhermore, the other reason to prove my point is wealthy people can fund a social projects to improvements in the education and the healthcare systems. In the other words, people who are richie-rich should consider to provide funds to educational institutions to use modern study style with modern technology and in the healthcare help hospitals or other medical service provider, because sometimes patient suffer to get proper medication such as one vaccine or an injection is quietly expensive for them.
To conclude the discussion, my reason for the unison with the main statement that wealthy people who are more affluent help people in their need and secondly provide some parts of their earnings to make the education and the medical care system better.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing with the prompt to a large extent. The main ideas are relevant, focusing on the financial capability of rich individuals to assist those in need and to fund large-scale social projects like education and healthcare. However, the development of these ideas tends to be somewhat superficial and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on funding education and healthcare introduces relevant points about modern technology and expensive medications, but these arguments remain under-developed rather than fully extended with deeper reasoning or varied examples. Nevertheless, a clear stance is maintained from the introduction through to the conclusion, satisfying the core requirements of a Band 6 response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two distinct body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate main ideas. However, cohesion at the sentence level is frequently faulty or mechanical, as seen in awkward transitional phrases like 'My inclination is elaborated in ensuring paragraph' and 'Furhermore, the other reason to prove my point'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear or imprecise, such as using 'the given statement' without fully integrating the proposition. While the logical progression of ideas is generally apparent, the mechanical nature of cohesive devices and intrusive cohesive errors pull the score to this band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'cirtical situations', 'elite people', and 'affluent'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and collocation throughout the essay. Examples include spelling errors like 'Furhermore' and 'cirtical', and awkward phrasings such as 'below poverty people', 'richie-rich', and 'study style'. These lexical errors and awkward formations occasionally detract from the reading experience, though they do not completely impede communication. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to use less common vocabulary with greater precision and awareness of natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include 'It has been observed that help others who are in need is the greatest benefits', 'afford a financial help', and 'patient suffer to get proper medication'. Furthermore, punctuation and word-formation errors occur frequently, such as 'rich businessmen and company owners who live wealthy lifestyle'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high density of structural errors places the grammar firmly at this level, as error-free sentences are not in the majority.
