IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Having enough money in life is very significantand important to survive and rich means only to fullfill the basic needs of a human like food, shelter and cloths. If you are rich and have much money to help other is also a good part of life and oppprtunity to help the people who are trouble.
However helping other is the good thing of life and it is the opportunity to helping others . But some time this causes the many problems like persons gets depends on other they don't work or do some jobs they just depends on others that they will help them i think so this is the main cause that a person thinvgs twice before helping another person because if his minds set is like depends on others then he will never ever able to work. If you have enough money to help the poor people so you just have to see the people first that he really need help or he is just trying to be helped
Moverover in my opnion if you are blessed with each and everything you have to help the other people who are really need of it and also donate the money in NGO's ,orphan homes ,oldage home etc this all are places where each and every time money is needed because this NGO's and all don't work for the money they work for the humanity so in life if you have each and everything just donate their where the really needed

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether helping others is the most important aspect of being rich. A basic position is established that helping others is a good opportunity, but certain caveats regarding dependency are raised. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive, with the core arguments lacking extension and clear supporting examples. For instance, the discussion on dependency is somewhat superficial and the conclusion leans heavily on general statements about NGOs and orphanages without deep analysis. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 5 descriptors, as the ideas remain somewhat under-developed and the position, while discernible, lacks thorough elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is organised into three paragraphs, providing some overall organisation, but logical progression is hindered by frequent structural and mechanical issues. Cohesive devices are basic, sometimes inaccurate, and repetitive, as seen with phrases like 'helping other is the good thing' and 'because this NGO's'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the transition between ideas lacks fluency, making the flow somewhat disjointed for the reader. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when pronouns like 'he' or 'they' are used without distinct antecedents. These features place the response firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by word-choice errors, incorrect forms, and spelling mistakes (e.g., 'fullfill', 'oppprtunity', 'thinvgs', 'opnion'). There are attempts to use less common words such as 'humanity' and 'donate', but the restricted range and frequent errors in collocation and spelling cause noticeable difficulty for the reader throughout the text. The lexical resource is minimally adequate for conveying a simple message, fitting the Band 5 criteria.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writing relies heavily on a limited range of sentence structures, featuring frequent run-on sentences and comma splices (e.g., 'If you are rich and have much money to help other is also a good part of life and oppprtunity to help the people who are trouble'). Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, marred by missing auxiliary verbs, incorrect prepositions, and persistent errors in subject-verb agreement. Punctuation is weak, lacking proper periods and capitalisation in several places. These frequent grammatical errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 5 descriptor level.
