IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

 

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the world full of greed and curse, mercy is the most important element which a needy person needs. We live in 21st century which is considers as the century of technologies and new inovations. In this world if someone who is not connecting themselves with the technology or did not convert his lifestyle and methods of doing work with the emerging technology could not succeed and in the result he fails.

The latest example between us is Covid-19 which randomly occurs in 2019 and end in 2023, during this period everyone was stucked at thier homes and no one is allowed by their representatives or governments to go outside even for thier groceries in major countries and at that time the people with sharp minds hold the technologies and digital platforms and earn a lot and while they were earning beside that they also look forward to the poor in there surroundings and helped them by feeding them and giving them clothes and provide shelters to those who lost there homes just because they did not have jobs and thier flat owners expel them from thier flats, at that time we have seen that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others.

At the time of flood in northern areas of Pakistan we have seen that many other rich or developed nations provides support to those who have lost thier homes and provide them food, medicines, shelters, clothes and other essentials to live a happy life.

According to my prespective every person who have some resources other then thier expenses should have to spent 25% from thier saving to those who need these or we should have to take responsibilities of widows, orphas, elders and those who are needy, so that no one in our country or city could not sleep hungry and without proper cloths in open sky.

The lexical range is limited and frequently repetitive. The student uses basic vocabulary such as "rich", "help", "poor", and "money" repeatedly throughout the text. There are several noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as "world full of greed and curse" instead of 'greed and hardship', and "stucked" instead of 'stuck'. While some less common items are attempted, inaccuracies in spelling ("inovations", "orphas") and word formation ("prespective", "cloths") impede communication at times. The lexical control is inconsistent, pointing to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text displays a heavy reliance on long, run-on sentences joined by coordinating conjunctions like 'and', resulting in a lack of varied complex sentence control.
