Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response takes a clear position in agreement with the prompt and attempts to present supporting ideas, such as charitable donations by wealthy individuals like Bill Gates and the provision of international aid. However, the development is limited and marred by generalisations and under-developed examples, such as the vague reference to 'trillions and businessmen'. Furthermore, the Length Check confirms that the response contains only 241 words, falling short of the mandatory 250-word minimum. This negative constraint violation directly impacts task achievement. Consequently, the score is capped at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, attempting a traditional introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is hindered by poor paragraphing conventions, including erratic spacing and punctuation errors, such as double periods and misplaced commas. Cohesive devices are frequently mechanical or misused, as seen in awkward transitions like 'To alleviate my idea i want to put an example'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the conclusion introduces repetitive points rather than synthesizing the main arguments. These issues place the response firmly in Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited vocabulary with noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and form. Examples include 'heaping of wealth', 'serve the mankind', 'poor heart and soul', and 'grown ups'. There are also frequent spelling and capitalization errors, such as lowercase 'i', 'bill gates', and 'heros'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic of wealth and charity, the frequent inaccuracies and lack of sophisticated lexical control restrict the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but errors in grammar and punctuation are frequent. Examples of grammatical inaccuracies include subject-verb agreement issues like 'Some people argued' and 'a lot of funds send', as well as awkward phrasing such as 'they also build a key example'. Punctuation is weak, notably with missing capitals and incorrect spacing. While the meaning can generally be followed, the high density of structural errors and lack of error-free sentences prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
