IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Becoming rich brings opportunity of helping others, this is what some people believe. I strongly agree with this statement.
Rich life bring lot of opportunities for example, spending on things person loves without stressing about affordability, getting access to better facilities in every sector of life like education, health or lifestyle.
Apart of this, one significant factor is getting a chance of helping people financially. Many people believe that saving is a smart choice it gives you surety of safe future. Although, there is nothing wrong with that, but, sharing and helping brings lot of goodluck back to people who spend on others.
One who is financillay stable, should manage finances in a way that atleast one portion goes for charity or simply in helping those who are in surroundings and struggling to meet their basic needs.
There is no disadvantage of helping others and it is completely wrong to have a thinking of why to give my hard earn money to others? And some also beleive that we spend on our immediate families , considering this enough.
It is social responsibilty and in some religions it is considered mandatory to practice. One has to just put a small portion or whatever suits with the intention of facilitating some one to make their life easier as much as possible.
In conclusion, i've seen many people who have spent their whole life with the aim of helping others even by compromising their own needs. I want to mention one personality named mister Chippa from pakistan. He started with providing food and shelter for orphan kids. As time passed he owned his own ambulance range which is available till now for public without getting anything in return. This example proof that, having opportunity to help others is significant by product of being rich and it takes just one step to avail this opportunity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the statement that the most important thing about being rich is the opportunity to help others. The writer presents relevant ideas, such as personal freedom, financial stability, and philanthropy, and supports them with a specific real-world example of Mr. Edhi (referred to as mister Chippa) from Pakistan. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed or general, such as the philosophical discussion on whether saving money is better than sharing. The arguments are generally well-suited to the task, maintaining a clear stance from beginning to end, which places the response comfortably at Band 6.5 to 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established early on. Ideas are generally grouped logically, though paragraphing is somewhat fragmented, with several very short, single-sentence paragraphs that disrupt the natural flow of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, but they can be mechanical or basic, such as 'Apart of this' and 'In conclusion'. Referencing and logical progression are present, but the abrupt shifts between paragraphs affect the overall cohesion, keeping the response at a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'financially stable', 'social responsibility', and 'mandatory'. However, there are notable errors in word choice, preposition use, and collocation, such as 'Rich life bring lot of opportunities', 'Apart of this' instead of 'Apart from this', and 'hard earn money' instead of 'hard-earned money'. Spelling errors like 'beleive' and 'proof' instead of 'proves' also occur. These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are several grammatical errors and awkward constructions throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Rich life bring', 'This example proof'), missing articles ('getting access to better facilities', 'with intention'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of basic grammatical slips prevents the response from achieving a higher band, making Band 5.5 the most appropriate score.
