Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some individuals believe that the vital part of being wealthy is having the free command to support people. I firmly agree with this view because wealth can provide financial security and more importantly, allow individuals to assist others and communities in need.
On the one hand, there are several advantage of being rich. Firstly, wealrhy people can donate their money in charity, support poor families and contribute to individuas who suffer from natural destrucation. For example, nepal face alot of difficulties such as land sliding and sunami, many families suffer from this an d only the rich people are able to support them in providing basic nessities food, cloths and built them new homes. Secondly, many parents doest not provide education to their children because of low financial stability. Therefore, a wealthy person provide schlorship to pupils from low income families, allowing to recieve a better education and improve their future.
On the other hand, another important way wealthy people can benefits others is by providing essential support. They built modern hospital and highly standard equipment and offer free healthcare for everyone. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that the most important thing about wealth is the ability to help others. The student presents relevant ideas, such as charitable donations during natural disasters and providing scholarships for children from low-income families. However, the development of these ideas is limited and at times superficial, such as mentioning Nepal and tsunamis without strong elaboration. Furthermore, some arguments blur the lines between individual philanthropy and government funding. While all parts of the task are addressed, the support remains somewhat underdeveloped. Therefore, this performance aligns well with Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an overall awareness of paragraphing. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and poor mechanical cohesion. Phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used, but they do not accurately frame contrasting arguments in this context, as both body paragraphs discuss the benefits of being rich. Referencing and conjunctions are sometimes faulty, such as 'For instance, a person suffer from brain disease this equipment help them'. Overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow, but cohesive devices are often inaccurate, placing it securely at Band 5.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate to convey basic meaning, but it features numerous spelling and word choice errors, such as 'wealrhy', 'destrucation', 'nessities', 'doest not', and 'luminous fact'. While the student attempts less common items like 'financial stability' and 'scholarship', the high frequency of lexical inaccuracies impedes precision and causes difficulty for the reader at times. Sophisticated or precise academic vocabulary is largely absent, making Band 5.0 the most accurate descriptor for lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is consistently weak throughout the text. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and article usage, such as 'a person suffer', 'donates their money in charity', 'officials dont get to loan from IMF', and missing plural markers where required. Complex structures are often faulty and punctuation is sometimes neglected. Because errors occur in nearly every sentence and occasionally cause comprehension difficulty, the writing fits the Band 5 descriptor.
