Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt directly, taking a clear stance that being wealthy provides an important opportunity to help others and develop society. The position is maintained throughout the essay. Main ideas are presented, such as charitable donations and infrastructural investments, and supported with explanations and examples, such as funding slum schools and establishing businesses. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed and general, such as the underdeveloped examples in the second paragraph, placing this performance comfortably at a Band 6.0 level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct main points. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. For instance, the transition 'To commence with, the main reason why i agree is that...' is awkward, and referencing is sometimes imprecise, such as 'Such finacial assitance can improve the lives of people who might afford it', where the intended meaning is obscured by poor phrasing. These mechanical and sometimes inaccurate cohesive devices align with Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'affluent', 'finacial resourses', and 'infrastructure', though spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable. There are several spelling mistakes throughout the text, including 'veiw', 'becuase', 'thier', 'finacial', 'peplpe', 'childers', 'contributes', 'resouerces', 'scoiety', 'beyound', 'oppurtunity', and 'postive'. Furthermore, collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as 'provide assist' instead of 'provide assistance'. Because these errors occasionally cause slight strain for the reader, the lexical resource is graded at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capacity for subordination and relative clauses (e.g., 'other organizations that provide essential services to the needy communities'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in articles, subject-verb agreement, and clause structures, such as 'being an affluent offers individuals to be generous' and 'if someone donate money in the slum area school, so that the childers which have ability...'. Punctuation is also problematic with fragmented sentences. These frequent errors correspond to a Band 5.0.
