IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people believe that most significant thing about being rich is that one has opportunity to help needy. I am completely agreed with the statement because of two valid reasons I will mention in the upcoming paragraphs.
To begin with, being a rich person is a great blessing of Allah and it is not provided to everyone. Actually, it is responsible that is provided by God these lucky persons that they help their needy person and bring joy on their faces it will also be a mental peace for them. Rich individuals have a chance to assist poor like they can pay the fee of deserving student or provide the basic eating things to people who are fasting for many days. To be honest it is a opportunity it is duty that has assigned to wealthy people that they facilitate poor one as they can.
Furthemore, being helping others is chance for only those people who can because there are alot of residents in our society who do not have capacity to help other because they difficulty manage the expense of their own needs so, it is not a good thing that you put the burden of needy person on these moderate individuals. To permote anyone to do so is any for wealthy person who have more money than their basic requirements.
In conclusion, it is a great opportunity for rich to help poor and give them happiness as more as you can do because God helps those who help others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position of complete agreement with the statement that the most important thing about being rich is the opportunity to help others. The main ideas are presented, such as wealth being a blessing and a duty to assist the less fortunate, and these are supported with relevant examples like paying fees for deserving students or providing food. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, and the reasoning remains general. This level of development aligns best with a Band 6, as all parts of the task are addressed and a position is maintained, but the ideas lack the extension and depth required for a Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, though the second body paragraph is somewhat disjointed. Cohesive devices are used to link sentences, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthemore', and 'In conclusion', but referencing and linking are sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in phrases like 'so, it is not a good thing that you put the burden'. Paragraph transitions are present, but overall progression is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical cohesion. These features place the response firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about wealth and charity. However, the range is limited and there are numerous word choice errors and missing articles, such as 'most significant thing' instead of 'the most significant thing', 'help needy' instead of 'help the needy', and 'permote' instead of 'promote'. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary like 'deserving student' and 'facilitate', but frequent errors in collocation and spelling prevent the response from achieving a higher band score. This performance fits the Band 5 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and sentence structure, such as 'I am completely agreed with the statement', 'it is responsible that is provided', and 'there are alot of residents in our society who do not have capacity to help other because they difficulty manage'. Punctuation is also problematic, leading to run-on sentences. Because frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and complex structures are frequently faulty, this response earns a Band 5 for grammar.
