Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, stopping at only 103 words. Consequently, the task is addressed only minimally and ideas are severely under-developed. Although the writer attempts to present a clear position by stating 'I don't agree with being rich is the opportunity to help other', the argument lacks sufficient extension, support, and examples. The response touches upon the prompt's theme by suggesting alternative ways to help others, such as using 'study, skill, manners', but this remains superficial due to the extreme brevity. In accordance with the marking criteria regarding length penalties, this severe under-length directly limits the Task Achievement score to a Band 3.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The text lacks proper paragraphing entirely, presented as a single run-on block of sentences. There is an absence of logical progression and a lack of cohesive devices to guide the reader through the argument. Punctuation is virtually nonexistent, leading to a series of fused clauses and run-on sentences, such as 'if you help some one God help you if you spend 1 dollar God return you 100 dollar'. While the writer attempts to transition with phrases like 'im not saying that money is not important' and 'in my conclusion', the overall structural arrangement is faulty and makes the logical flow very difficult to follow. This corresponds to Band 4.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and restricted to everyday terms such as 'rich', 'help', 'money', 'study', and 'skill'. There are noticeable issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'with you study' instead of 'through your studies' and 'don't feels bad' instead of 'don't feel bad'. The writer attempts to express more abstract concepts regarding wealth and philanthropy, but the limited lexical range and frequent errors strain the reader's comprehension. There is no use of less common or idiomatic vocabulary. This aligns well with the Band 4.0 lexical descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting almost entirely of simple clauses strung together without correct punctuation or capitalization. There are frequent and systematic grammatical errors throughout the response, including subject-verb agreement issues ('God help those who help them self'), missing articles, and a complete absence of periods or commas. Complex sentence structures are not successfully attempted. Errors are frequent and often distort the intended meaning, requiring the reader to guess the connections between clauses. These characteristics reflect the Band 4.0 descriptors for grammatical range and accuracy.
