IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many individual believe that being rich has the opportunity to help others. while other argue that not all help the needy one. I am partially agree with this view Because there are very few who actually help the poor but mostly rich people dont even involved into social act.
There are many famous people or whealthy one who actually help the poor people they build the homes and provides the necessay item to them. They made efforts to eradicate the poverty. many of them take responsibility and spend their own money for poor people. For instance, The Tata family, charities the most in India build the hospitals support the children for education build the homes for people. also there are many other philanthropist who do such social works.
The other side of rich people is they often dont get involved. They live their life with luxury and spend the mostly time in vaccations. many rich people think of living life more selfish which often translate into ego and unnecessary overspending. for example, the rich people buy luxury and expensive cars clothes which can be used for helping poor but they enjoy their life not all whealthy individuals have a big heart for charity.
To conclude, many rich celebrities and businessman help the poor they believe that God give them whealth and in order to make God happy they often donate some of their money while, many condemn the idea of charity and heliping others. so I believe that not all the rich people help others even some of them have the opportunity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, acknowledging both sides of the argument before concluding. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack depth. For instance, the discussion regarding the Tata family and philanthropy contains relevant examples, but the explanation remains somewhat superficial without exploring broader societal implications. Similarly, the counterargument about wealthy individuals spending time on vacations is stated simply rather than fully extended. To reach the next level, the ideas need to be more thoroughly explored and supported with deeper analysis and more sophisticated reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different facets of the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transitional phrases like 'The other side of rich people is' and 'so I believe' are somewhat awkward and detract from the natural flow. Additionally, referencing is not always clear, such as the pronoun use in 'many of them take responsibility and spend their own money for poor people'. Improving the variety and precision of cohesive devices and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences will elevate the organizational quality.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing enough meaning to convey the writer's perspective, but it remains limited and contains noticeable errors. There are several spelling and word choice inaccuracies, such as 'whealthy' instead of wealthy, 'vaccations' instead of vacations, and 'heliping' instead of helping. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'philanthropist' and 'eradicate', but these are accompanied by errors in form and collocation, like 'dont even involved into social act'. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, ensure greater precision in word choice and collocations, and eliminate spelling mistakes that occasionally disrupt the flow of reading.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though the range of structures remains somewhat limited. There are several grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Many individual believe'), missing articles ('the poor people'), and incorrect verb forms ('God give them whealth'). Although these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede overall communication. Attempts at complex sentences, such as 'which can be used for helping poor but they enjoy their life', tend to contain faults in structure. To progress further, the writer must exercise greater control over basic grammatical patterns, article usage, and sentence boundary punctuation.
