Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some says that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others.

I am not agree with this statement. Because of several reasons. In my opinion not only rich people have opportunity to help others, other people also have many opportunities to help others.

First of all, it is not necessary that you help someone with money, there are many more ways through which you can help someone. I remember once i was travelling to northen areas of pakistan for visiting. There was no internet and i lost on way and i ask a local person about the right way for my distination. He told me but i did not get, than he asked me to follow him he start travelling on his bike and i followed him about for an half hour. I was very glad for his such help.

Secondly, many middle class families I see helping others. In our family one of my uncles started a NGO to help poor people. Every month he gave food packages to poor people my collecting charity. Last time i remeber there was a need of a hand pump in the village, because a family was suffering from the water problem. He raise chairty but he gave a a big amount for this project from his own pocket. He is a manager in a private company.

So, to help other people you did not need only money. One should have a courage to help others there are many ways through which people can help other people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you disagree that helping others is the most important benefit of being rich, and you support this with examples of a traveller receiving directions and your uncle helping a village. These examples are relevant, especially because they show that assistance can involve time or community action, not only personal wealth. However, the response mainly argues that people who are not rich can help; it does not fully explore what is most important about being rich or explain the extent of your disagreement in depth. The examples also need more explanation of how they answer the exact question. The response is 244 words, six words below the 250-word minimum; the 17 words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop the argument further and meet the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “First of all” and “Secondly,” and a concluding statement. This helps the reader follow the two examples. However, progression is limited because both body paragraphs largely repeat the same point—that people can help without being rich—and the conclusion restates it rather than drawing the argument together. Some links between ideas are unclear: “Last time i remeber” introduces the hand-pump example abruptly, and “So” does not fully connect the examples to the question about the importance of wealth. Use clearer transitions within paragraphs and explain how each example supports your position, rather than relying mainly on sequencing phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the central ideas, including “opportunity,” “charity,” “food packages,” and “water problem.” The examples also give you a chance to use topic-related language about community support. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “help someone with money,” “for visiting,” and “a big amount for this project.” Repetition of “help others” and “people” also makes the argument less varied. Spelling errors such as “distination,” “remeber,” and “chairty” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Build a small set of accurate expressions for describing financial and practical assistance, and check spelling carefully during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use simple patterns, and the reader can generally understand your meaning. You also attempt longer structures, for example, “there are many more ways through which you can help someone,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in agreement and verb forms: “Some says,” “he start travelling,” and “He raise chairty.” There are also sentence-boundary problems, as in “I am not agree with this statement. Because of several reasons,” where the second fragment should be joined to a complete sentence. Articles and sentence construction are also unreliable in “for an half hour” and “he gave a a big amount.” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
