Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You give a position—“I agree with this statement”—and introduce a relevant qualification by saying it is “not hunderd percent right.” You also begin to challenge the idea that only rich people can help, which is relevant to the question. However, the response does not explain why helping others is or is not the most important aspect of being rich, and the alternative ways of helping are not identified or supported with examples. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so the argument remains very limited and only minimally addresses the task. Develop your position with clear reasons and specific examples, and explain how these support your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening states your view, and the next paragraph introduces a contrasting point about people who are not rich. The phrase “because” also signals a reason. However, the response ends before this point is explained, so there is little progression from claim to explanation or example. The opening repeats the wording of the prompt rather than setting up a clear line of argument, and “this statement” is used without adding much clarity. Use separate paragraphs for your position and supporting reasons, then connect each claim to an explanation or example with clear referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a small set of relevant words, including “rich,” “opportunity,” “help,” and “money,” so the general topic is recognisable. However, the vocabulary is very repetitive, especially the repeated use of “help,” and several phrases are difficult to understand, such as “some different method of help with othes.” Spelling errors such as “hunderd” and “othes” also reduce accuracy. To express your ideas more precisely, build a wider range around the topic—for example, terms for giving financial support, volunteering, or assisting a community—and check spelling and natural word combinations. This would make your meaning clearer without requiring overly advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response mainly uses short, simple statements, with an attempt to join ideas using “but” and “because.” This gives you a basic way to express a position and a reason. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurate: “The statement is talk about a that rich people is one has…” does not form a clear grammatical sentence, and “also other people to help others” lacks a complete clause. There are also problems with subject–verb agreement and articles, as in “rich people is.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then combine them using accurate clauses such as “Although wealthy people can donate money, others can help by volunteering.”
