IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Yes, definitely it's true that if you want to help others than its necessarily you are rich. But its is only require for financial helps to others. Personally, i believe if people have kind heart and nature than doesn't matter they are rich or not. That type of people always helps others no matter what situation in they.
Initially, it is not fully wrong statement about being rich for helps to others. Generally you can help financially others when you have more money. It's also depends on people's heart. Mostly people have money but they don't want to help others who needs. All are not same, some people very helpful to others. They are richest but never show attitude to medium class and poor people. They always ready to helps other. For example - helps in study to poor children, helps to provide food and grocery products to who needs.
However, I strongly believe that if you are genuinely wants to help others than no matter you are rich or not. There is not compulsory to help only financially. You also helps emotionally, physically and mentally. Many people helps alot to other even they are not rich enough but still they happy to helps other. This type of people is very few who are thinking about others before themselves. I have also many examples like Mahatma gandhi, Dr. Ambedkar, Subhashchandra, Sardar Vallabhbhai etc. People are not rich but they whole life are going with helps to other.
In conclusion, Being rich and helps to other is really appreciatable but helps to other even not rich than its pure kindness. Honestly , I believe that your kindness is matter not being rich.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you accept that wealth can make financial help possible, but argue that kindness and non-financial support matter more. This addresses both the claim and the extent of your agreement. Relevant examples include helping children with their studies and providing food, as well as offering emotional or physical support. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. The references to Gandhi, Ambedkar and other figures do not show clearly how their lives support your claim that they were not rich, and the opening statement that helping others requires wealth is not fully reconciled with your later position. Develop fewer examples with clearer explanation of how they prove your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “Initially” and “However” helps readers follow the shift from financial assistance to broader forms of help. Nevertheless, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from money to people’s attitudes and then to examples without fully connecting these points. Several linking phrases, including “Initially” and “However,” feel mechanical, and references such as “that type of people” are not always clear. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it before moving on. This would make the overall argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “financially,” “emotionally,” “genuinely” and “kindness,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “help others” and “rich.” Some word choices and collocations are unnatural, such as “financial helps,” “richest” when describing helpful people, and “going with helps to other.” These errors sometimes make the message less clear. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for assistance, generosity and social support, and check whether words fit their grammatical role and usual collocations. More precise vocabulary would help you express the distinction between financial and non-financial help.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “if you are genuinely wants to help others” and clauses beginning with “even.” However, these longer structures are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction recur. For example, “it’s necessarily you are rich” and “There is not compulsory to help” are difficult to process, while “people … they are rich” shows inconsistent agreement and reference. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly at sentence beginnings. Practise building accurate basic clauses first, then combine them using “although,” “because” and “if.” Careful editing for subject–verb agreement and complete sentence structure would improve clarity.
