IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people believe that wealth provides the opportunity to them so they can support needy people's by helping them in there financical problems. However this is only depends on the nature and personality of that person.

I strongly agree to this statement, that being rich give them a chance to help other people so they reecived the opportunity to improve their and their countries economical conditions by providing the job opportunities for adults and elder's who are unemployed. Although, they can also help the students by scholarships in their academic fee structure.

For instance, there are so many celebrity's and influencers who are showing there efforts in enhancing the condition of lower middle class families. Moreover, they are doing this by stablising NGOS and charity communities which allow them to help them.

On the other hand, the most impresiv and influancing example of this shows by the Indian top wealthy men's like Mukesh Amabani and Ratan Tata who play a most significant role in helping the lowest classes in my country India. Many reports represents the data which is considering that the Ambani family and Tata production compnies play crucial role in providing employment.

For example Ratan Tata understand the need and of middle class family and peoples and launch the first ever care in under 1lake name as tata nano which help most of lower middle class family with affordablity

In conclusion, according to me i considered that the aim of every individual after becaming prosperous was to help those destitude person or category which are not able to affort the meals or studies which is important for both the person and country in growing and development

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that wealth matters because it enables people to help others. You address this with several relevant examples, including employment, scholarships, charities, and the Tata Nano. These examples show an understanding of the topic, but some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that wealthy people can improve “their countries economical conditions” would be stronger if you explained how employment or education produces wider benefits. The Tata Nano example is also difficult to follow and its connection to helping others needs clearer explanation. Develop each main reason with a specific explanation and link it directly to why helping others is the most important aspect of wealth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an overall structure, moving from an introduction to supporting examples and a conclusion, and phrases such as “For instance,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” attempt to guide the reader. However, the progression between ideas is not always clear. “On the other hand” introduces another example supporting your position rather than a contrasting view, so the relationship is confusing. Some sentences also combine several ideas without clear links, particularly the paragraph about the Tata Nano. Paragraphing would be more effective if each body paragraph focused on one reason and its supporting example. Use linking expressions to show the actual relationship between ideas, and make references such as “them” and “this” unambiguous.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “scholarships,” “employment,” “charity communities,” and “affordability,” which helps communicate your main ideas. There is also some effort to use less common language, such as “significant role” and “destitute.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to understand: “financical,” “stablising,” “impresiv,” and “influancing” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “academic fee structure” and “the first ever care.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. A more precise vocabulary range would help you express the examples and their significance without relying on broad or unclear wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession beginning “Although” and a relative clause in “who are unemployed.” However, control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the point. For example, “this is only depends” has an incorrect verb construction, while “being rich give them a chance” has a subject–verb agreement error. The final sentence also shifts awkwardly between past and present forms and lacks clear sentence boundaries. Practise forming complete clauses, maintaining consistent verb forms, and checking agreement and articles. Shorter, accurately controlled sentences would make your ideas clearer while you continue developing complex structures.
