IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people are opinionated that being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others.
I agree to the statement to some extent that rich has higher opportunity to help others but to help others it is not always necessary to being rich.
Every society has different kind of people. Some belong to rich community. While other belong to poor community. Some kind of people belong to middle class. Being rich in a society means different ways and possibilities to grow. Rich people can easily survive in any community and fight any batle easily. On the other hand, poorer peoplefind it difficult to fulfill even their basic needs. So it is the responsibility of rich people to help others in the society. These people has more opportunities to help the suffferers in the society and maintain balance. They can facilitate others by raising funds. A well established charity system is supportive enough to help the poor people. They can also enhance job opportuniies. They can increase the labour ratio taht can help alot the poor. By providing the food and education facilities, they can raise a well educated society. Because with the help of education, even the children of poor people have the equal rights to grow in a society. Different and free medical services can also help them alot. But many other people can also help them alot. By treating them qual in a society give them a confidence to survive.
In conclusion, rich can help alot others but being responsible, it is the duty of everycitizen to help each other so that they can grow equally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a relevant, partly qualified position: rich people have greater opportunities to help, but “it is not always necessary to being rich.” The response then offers pertinent examples, including raising funds, creating jobs, and providing food, education, and medical services. These points show an understanding of the topic, but the discussion mainly lists ways wealthy people can assist and does not fully explain why this is the most important aspect of being rich. Your qualification—that every citizen can help—is introduced late and receives little support, so the position is not consistently developed. To strengthen the response, explain and compare the importance of wealthy people’s capacity to help with other benefits of wealth, and develop your alternative view with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an opening position, a main discussion, and a concluding statement. The contrast signalled by “On the other hand” and the final “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, the main paragraph contains many ideas in a long sequence, with little grouping or explanation of how one point leads to the next. The opening also repeats the task’s idea rather than establishing a clear line of argument, and the shift from wealthy people’s responsibilities to the claim that everyone should help is abrupt. Use separate paragraphs for the main argument and your qualification, and connect examples to a central point rather than listing them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, such as “charity system,” “raising funds,” “labour,” and “medical services,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “help others,” “society,” and “alot.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “batle,” “suffferers,” “opportuniies,” and “qual,” which can distract the reader. Some expressions are not natural in context, such as “fight any battle easily” and “increase the labour ratio.” Build a more precise vocabulary for discussing inequality and social support, and check spelling and collocations carefully. For example, describe employment creation as “expand job opportunities” rather than “increase the labour ratio.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a reason introduced by “Because” and a clause beginning “so that.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. Examples include “being rich is that one has,” “rich has higher opportunity,” and “it is not always necessary to being rich,” where sentence structure and verb patterns are faulty. Agreement and articles are also inconsistent: “Every society has different kind of people” and “These people has more opportunities.” Several sentence boundaries are unclear, as in “Some belong to rich community. While other belong to poor community.” Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then combine related ideas using correctly formed clauses.
