IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Helping others is the real meaning of life' some wise man said this a long time ago. the simple meaning of help is to do something for others when you can, even a bit matters alot some time.Help in itself is much wider concept it could be in alot of forms, we can do something for other in a lot of ways and sometimes it do not even requires the money necessarily, even a smile can makes alot of difference, It may also includes to help some elderly person to cross the road, to give something to eat to someone, even the leftovers, give a few cents to a poor kid to buy his favourite toy or give someone the best piece of advice when he is some difficult situtation. We can also refer to talk to someone, just a good and healthy conversation when someone is depressed, it may change the whole meaning of his life.
These are a few things from the very long list which we can do for someone without money though the money is the most important and crucial thing in our lives these days. If someone is rich and got a God fearing heart he can do far more for the poors than the person with no or less money because in these we can buy the happiness but for others.to give someone money can be much more helpful to other rather than just being polite with them or give them meaningful lessons verbabally.
Although its true that we dont need to be rich certainly to help somone as we have discuused above but the thing and the truth that we can not underestimate is that with money we can help better as compared if we dont have it the reason behind it is that money runs our lives these days so, the best way to help someone in this era is to give him some cash so that he can fullfil his needs or starts his own small business and become indipendent for throughout his life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You take a clear position: although people can help without money, being rich makes it possible to provide more substantial practical support. The examples of giving cash, helping someone meet basic needs, or supporting a small business are relevant to the question. However, the response spends considerable space listing ways anyone can help, while the central claim about why the opportunity to help is the most important aspect of wealth is less fully examined. The contrast between financial and non-financial help is useful, but some points—such as buying happiness—are asserted rather than explained. Develop the reasoning by clarifying why helping others matters more than other benefits of wealth, and support that comparison with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The ideas follow a broadly understandable path: you introduce helping, give examples of non-financial support, then argue that money enables greater assistance. This overall progression helps the reader follow your position. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the shift from general examples to the importance of wealth is not clearly signposted. Some links are also awkward or unclear, particularly “because in these we can buy the happiness” and “Although its true… as we have discuused above.” Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, the discussion of different forms of help, and your conclusion. Clearer transitions such as “Nevertheless” or “For this reason” would make the relationship between ideas easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “crucial,” “depressed,” “independent,” and “fulfil his needs,” and your examples show an ability to discuss both emotional and financial support. However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “the poors,” “meaningful lessons verbally,” “a lot of forms,” and misspellings such as “situtation” and “indipendent.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “buy the happiness” does not clearly convey your intended meaning. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “people living in poverty” and “provide financial assistance.” This would make your vocabulary more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “Although” and a reason introduced by “because.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, verb forms, and punctuation reduce accuracy. For instance, “it do not even requires” should be “it does not even require,” while “a smile can makes” should be “a smile can make.” The opening quotation also runs into the next sentence without clear punctuation, and several sentences join many ideas with commas. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and divide long sentences into shorter units. More accurate control of these structures would make your argument easier to read.
