IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people argue that opulent people has one crucial benefit that they has opportunity to assist other individuals.
From my perspective that is not completely true in all cases, in some aspects rich people often have no attention towards helping impoverished as they prefer their comfort and celebrations over it while moderate people having less money help indiviuduals mostly in their surroundings.
Some individuals perspective about rich people helping other is due to their experiences in businesses, educationl and organizational domain. They find some people who spend money on others to gain fame and popularity among people rather than having intentions to financially support them. In addition, they holds political intentions to please people in order to get more votes. Moreover, in public gathering and political contest they declare funds for orphans, educational institutions and needy people. After their selection , they pay no attention to disadvantaged people at all.
Spending money on needy people has not been a common pratice of every opulent around the world. only few kind hearted people who have soft corner for people in need and have concerns to eliminate poverty from society or country prefer it. For instance, the founders of many unprofitable organizations holds missions for well being of society and patriotism to help mankind spend massive amount to helping underprevilaged entities of the societies. Therefore, those people find pleaure of being rich .
To recapitulate, I believe not all wealthy people have oppertunity to ease other people because only few prosperous individuals spend money for helping others while most of them showoff to get fame among topped classes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a recognisable position: you disagree that helping others is the most important benefit of wealth, arguing that many wealthy people seek comfort or publicity while some less wealthy people help those nearby. The examples about political promises and charitable organisations are relevant. However, the response only partly answers the exact question: it focuses mainly on whether rich people actually help, rather than explaining whether the opportunity to help is the most important thing about being rich. The claim that moderate-income people help more is also asserted without a developed example, and the final paragraph repeats the main point rather than weighing it against other benefits of wealth. Explain why this opportunity is or is not more important than alternatives, then support that comparison.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic essay structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas are generally grouped by topic. Linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Moreover,” and “Therefore” help signal relationships. However, progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph moves from business and education to political motives and election promises without clearly connecting these examples to the central question. Some links are mechanical, and references such as “they” in “they holds political intentions” do not clearly identify the people being discussed. The conclusion largely repeats the introduction. Use clearer topic sentences, make each paragraph develop one reason, and connect examples explicitly to your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “impoverished,” “disadvantaged,” “political intentions,” and “eliminate poverty.” This shows an effort to use less common language, but inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling sometimes make the meaning less natural or harder to follow. For example, “opulent people” and “unprofitable organizations” do not express the intended ideas as naturally as “wealthy people” and “non-profit organisations”; “showoff” is also unsuitable in this sentence. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “indiviuduals,” “pratice,” and “oppertunity.” Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than choosing formal-sounding words, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “while,” and “in order to.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, sentence boundaries and clause structure can make the reader work to understand your meaning. For example, “opulent people has” and “they has” have incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “in some aspects rich people often have no attention…” is joined to the preceding sentence with a comma rather than a clear sentence boundary. “They holds” and “organizations holds” also show agreement problems. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check agreement and punctuation before adding further complexity.
