Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is widely argued that there is many categories in commuinity, while some people believe that rich individuals maight have chance to help other people, i completely agree with this view because they can donate money to poor people to improve their living conditons.

The primary reason why i believe donating are the easiest way to help is that damaged category can benifit from this money by caring their families by enhance their lifestyle. This mean that people can't afford the essentials thing like healthcare specially for children or payin their rent, for example, weathly people can provide food for homeless and help families during difficult times.

Another significant point is that rich individuals can support education and create job opportunities, they can offer scholarships to poor students or open new bussnesses. As result, young people can recieve a good education and find employment in the future.

In cocnclusion, weathely people can help society in several ways, especially by donating moeny, supporting education and creating jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you completely agree that wealth is valuable because it enables people to help others. You give relevant reasons, including donations for basic needs and support for education and employment, with examples such as providing food for homeless people and offering scholarships. However, the response addresses the task only partially because these ideas are stated briefly rather than explained or supported in depth. The opening also refers vaguely to “many categories in community,” which does not clearly introduce the issue. The response is 85 words below the required minimum, limiting the space available to develop your argument. Extend each main point with a specific example and explain how it demonstrates the importance of wealth as an opportunity to help.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “The primary reason,” “Another significant point,” and “In conclusion” help the reader follow the basic progression. However, the development within paragraphs is limited, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, “by caring their families by enhance their lifestyle” makes the relationship between donating and improving living conditions difficult to follow. The conclusion repeats the main points without adding a clear synthesis. Build each paragraph around one central claim, then connect the explanation and example with clear references and linking phrases. This would create a more sustained progression rather than relying mainly on formulaic signposts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “donate money,” “healthcare,” “scholarships,” and “job opportunities,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts to use more specific expressions, such as “essentials” and “employment.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, including “commuinity,” “weathly,” “moeny,” and “bussnesses.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “damaged category” and “caring their families.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For instance, use “disadvantaged groups” for people in need and “support their families” when describing how donations help recipients.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a sentence explaining what wealthy people can do. However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence structure and grammar sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. For example, “there is many categories” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “donating are the easiest way” does not use a consistent subject and verb. In “people can’t afford the essentials thing,” the noun phrase is not formed correctly, and “As result” is missing an article. Practise building accurate sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. Greater control of these basics will make your argument easier to follow.
