IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people say that the most vital thing for wealthy individuals is that they have chance to support others. I whole heartedly agree to this and I think rich people who help others bear a noble character and they have this opportunity which can genuinely make world a better place.
The most respectable thing for the people who are rich is supporting other people who are not as gifted as them. Because in today's world those who help other rarely go unseen and they get highlighted more which brings these people more respect in society and everyone sees them people with high moral values because they choose to do this out of their sheer will there are many examples of people who donated their wealth to others or in some cases kids in orphanges.
Whole humanity can benefit from this and the world can be a better place if rich people help the people with less financial stability. Especially in the poor countries like there are majority in Africa continent there are kids with no food and water even the basic necessities to live and clothes and other things are out of the conversation this is the level of poverty and for rich people this will not be a big deal if they choose to do it for example, Elon Musk can alone eliminate hunger out of Africa and this will surely make this world a better place.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that helping others is the most noble opportunity rich people have because if they choose to help others in turn they will get huge respect and world can be a better place to live for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you strongly agree that helping others is the most important opportunity wealth provides. You support this with relevant points about social respect and the potential to relieve poverty, including the example of children lacking basic necessities. This fully addresses the task and shows some development. However, the argument focuses mainly on the benefits of helping and gives less attention to why this opportunity is the most important aspect of being rich, rather than one benefit among others. Some claims, such as one individual being able to eliminate hunger across Africa, are broad and need qualification or evidence. Explain the reasoning behind your examples more fully to make the case more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, with ideas generally moving from social respect to reducing poverty. The conclusion also returns clearly to your position. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and several sentences contain too many ideas without clear links. For example, the second paragraph moves from respect to public recognition, moral values and donations in one extended sentence. The third paragraph similarly combines poverty, basic needs and the Elon Musk example. Use clearer sentence boundaries and organise each paragraph around one main point, then explain and illustrate it. More precise referencing would also help readers follow connections between people, actions and outcomes.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss wealth, poverty and social responsibility, including phrases such as “financial stability,” “moral values” and “basic necessities.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and you attempt some more formal expressions. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or repetitive: “the most respectable thing” is less natural for describing an action, while “help the people with less financial stability” is awkward. There are also spelling errors, including “orphanges,” and some broad or imprecise phrasing, such as “majority in Africa continent.” Aim for more natural collocations and precise descriptions of the people and regions you mean.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually clear. However, control is uneven: several long sentences join independent ideas without appropriate punctuation, particularly the sentence beginning “Because in today's world” and the one beginning “Especially in the poor countries.” There are also errors in articles and sentence structure, as in “they have chance” and “everyone sees them people with high moral values.” The opening fragment beginning “Because” is not effectively connected to a complete main clause. Practise dividing long sentences into complete units and checking articles, clause structure and punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument easier to read.
