Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Student answer (Band 5.5)

While a number of individuals say that the most crucial thing about being priviliged is that one has the opportunity to help others. I totally agree with this remark. I believe rich people have the mindset to help the needy because middle class and upper middle class people don't have enough financial stability.

Admittedly, rich people have unlimited source of funds to donate and help the needy. So they can easily donate and reduce the stress of poverty.

On the one hand, in our society there are enormous people who have vast amount of assets, funds and unlimited source of incomes.Although the number is not so high but it can easily be seen a billionaire and a millionaire around the world. Including Bill Gates, Jack Ma, Elon Musk and Mukesh Ambani. These people have enormous sources of money so they want they can easily donate one third of their savings. A report says that if Bill Gates donates only half of his assets , it can eradicate 30% of poverty of the globe. Additionally, if these multi millionaires donate in epidemics, pandemics, famine, floods , during earthquake or if they give funding to hospitals, educational institutions and orphanage then poor people can get benefitted from it.

On the other hand, rich people are very stingy. They always try to hold onto their money. In some cases, they even snatch the last bit of coins from the poor and underprviliged . The also look down upon people who are financially weak. They believe that poor people are lazy and they don't work hard as much as the rich people. That's why they always lag behind and stay poor for generation to generation. Nevetheless some rich person make donation and help lower income people.

In conclusion, rich folks have a great role to play in our society. They can change the faith cycle of poor people. Overall, I think more and more people should donate to society so that everyone can lead a better and healthier life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that helping others is an important benefit of wealth, and you support this with examples of donations to poverty relief, hospitals, education and disaster response. You also introduce a counterpoint by noting that some wealthy people are stingy, then return to your view in the conclusion. This addresses the question, but the discussion is uneven: the claim that rich people have the “mindset to help” is not convincingly explained, and the paragraph about their negative attitudes is asserted rather than supported. The response would be stronger if it clarified whether helping others is the most important aspect of being rich, compared with personal security or freedom, and developed the counterargument before explaining why your position still holds. (The required length is met; 9 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the contrast between “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” helps signal a change in viewpoint. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. The first body paragraph moves from the number of wealthy people to named examples, then to an unsupported report and a list of possible donations. The opening sentence is also a fragment beginning “While,” which weakens the link between the introduction and the argument. Some connectors, such as “Admittedly” and “Additionally,” are used mechanically, while the relationship between ideas is not always clear. Grouping related examples and explaining each one’s relevance would make the argument flow more logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “financial stability,” “assets,” “eradicate,” “underprivileged,” and “educational institutions.” These choices show an effort to discuss wealth and social support beyond basic terms. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “unlimited source of funds” and “unlimited source of incomes” are repeated, while “change the faith cycle” does not express the intended idea clearly. There are also spelling errors, including “priviliged,” “underprviliged,” and “Nevetheless.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; using fewer repeated phrases such as “rich people” and “donate” would also make the vocabulary more flexible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if Bill Gates donates…” and a concession beginning “Although.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. The opening “While a number of individuals say…” is a dependent clause without a complete main clause. In “they want they can easily donate,” the clause structure is faulty, and “The also look down” is missing a subject pronoun. There are also issues with articles, plurals and sentence boundaries, as in “a billionaire and a millionaire around the world” and the run-on spacing around “incomes.Although.” Review clause construction and punctuation, then proofread for agreement and complete sentences to improve accuracy.
