Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, serving humanity by helping each other in the hour of need is considered to be a best habbit all over the globe. Some people argue that it should be fundamental to help the poor or needy people, if you have more than enough money. I completely agree with this argument because helping others has positive impacts on the society.

First of all, it is widely acknowledged that every religion of the world teaches us to serve humanity. If you become rich, then you should have courage to spend money in order to help poor and needy people. Proponents of this view argue that it will consequently mitigate the poverty. For example, distributed money to unemployed people for the sake of humanity. So, effected people from poverty will buy basic household items for the upbringing of their children. To a certain extent, it will enhance the country's reputation on international scale.

Secondly, it plays a pivotal role to encourage the young generation for helping others. What I mean by this young inhabitants has been engaged in playing online games, where they spend alot of money. If the ellite class people help others in the hour of need, then it will be the practical example for the upcoming young adults. Undeniably, social media has been the main mean for accessing information. If the youtubers or tiktokers make this as a trend to help others, then it will beneficial for many poor residents.

In conclusion, although it is considered to be necessary for being rich to help others due to significant positive impacts on the society. Personally, I believe that this is the best way for spending the money in the right way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you completely agree that helping others is an important use of wealth, and you give two relevant reasons—reducing poverty and encouraging young people to help. The examples about supporting unemployed people and influencers promoting charitable behaviour help connect your ideas to the topic. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that helping the poor enhances a country’s international reputation is not clearly linked to your main argument, and the example about young people spending money on online games needs a clearer explanation of how wealthy people’s actions would change this. Develop each reason with a specific cause-and-effect explanation and keep the focus on the opportunity wealth provides to help others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “First of all” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from poverty relief to setting an example for young people, so the reader can follow the main line of argument. You also use linking expressions such as “For example” and “In conclusion.” To make the organisation more effective, ensure each example clearly supports the point immediately before it. The sentence beginning “For example, distributed money…” is not a complete sentence, which interrupts the flow, and “What I mean by this” does not lead smoothly into the explanation. Use clearer references and more natural transitions rather than relying mainly on formulaic signposts.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You show an adequate range for the topic, including phrases such as “serve humanity,” “mitigate the poverty,” “pivotal role,” and “international scale.” These attempts at more formal vocabulary help communicate your ideas, and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “a best habbit,” “distributed money to unemployed people,” and “the main mean for accessing information.” Spelling errors, including “habbit,” “alot,” and “ellite,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations—for example, describe wealthy people as donating money or funding support, and refer to social media as a major means of accessing information. Check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional sentences such as “If you become rich, then you should have courage…” and “If the youtubers or tiktokers make this as a trend…”. This shows an attempt to vary sentence structure, and most of your meaning can be understood. Some grammatical errors remain, however. “For example, distributed money…” lacks a subject and a finite verb, while “What I mean by this young inhabitants has been engaged…” has an unclear clause structure and faulty agreement. The conclusion also begins with “although” but does not complete a contrasting main clause. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, and clause connections when editing.
