IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Student answer (Band 5.5)

As per my perspective to held other you don't need to be rich or poor ,you just need a good heart and good thinking mind to help someone. For example, If some person is rich and he has the good intent to help peoples that's good but in case the person is not intrested in helping peoples then has the rights to do it and on the other hand if some person is not financial stable then they also can held people as per their accountability or financial ways.

If in case, rich peoples can help in a greater number of money, as donating it to a charity fund or some government facilities just like developing hospital or developing schools for the people and get the treatement free for the poor peoples and school to educate the poor children's. If there is land to the rich person they can donate the land to some peoples for farming which helps peoples to takeout some output of money from land that will help to manage the expences of poor poor peoples.

Basically, in case of rich person if they have a company that can also helped more numbers of workers to get some particular jobs in the company and has better facilities for the workers in orginization.

Overall, from my perspective i agree to the point that rich peoples has the most opportunity to help other peoples than the poor peoples as poor has strugling for money and has less work life load than the rich one's. Meanwile, Poor can also help the people as per there requirement or as per the financial requirement that they holds.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the central question and make your position clear in the conclusion: you agree that wealthy people have greater opportunities to help, while also arguing that people with fewer resources can contribute. The examples of funding hospitals and schools, donating land, and providing jobs are relevant and show several ways wealth can benefit others. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The opening focuses on good intentions rather than directly explaining what makes opportunity the most important aspect of being rich, and the claim that poorer people have “less work life load” is unclear and not supported. Explain the significance of your examples and clarify how they support your degree of agreement to make the response more complete and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an opening statement, examples of charitable support, a point about employment, and a concluding position. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the first paragraph, where the contrast between rich and financially unstable people is expressed in one long sentence. Linking phrases such as “on the other hand,” “Basically,” and “Overall” help signal relationships, but some are repetitive or do not make the connection precise. The second paragraph also combines several examples without clearly separating or ranking them. Use shorter, more focused paragraphs and make each one develop a distinct reason supporting your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “donating,” “charity fund,” “facilities,” “farming,” and “workers,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “peoples,” “help,” and “poor.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “intrested,” “treatement,” “expences,” and “orginization,” which reduce clarity and accuracy. Some expressions are not natural in context, including “takeout some output of money from land” and “work life load.” Build a more precise range of collocations for discussing wealth and social support, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, including a contrast introduced by “on the other hand” and conditional phrasing such as “If…”. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often difficult to control. For example, “if some person is not interested in helping peoples then has the rights to do it” lacks a clear subject in the second clause, while “rich peoples has” shows a subject–verb agreement problem. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “a good heart and good thinking mind” and the long opening sentence joined with commas. Practise building accurate sentences around one main idea, then add subordinate clauses only when their structure is clear.
