Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the provided chart. However, the data presentation is often unclear and inaccurate. For instance, the statement '43 percentage use rather than other three cities' is vague and fails to clearly compare the specific data points for Sydney and Melbourne against the others. The report lacks a clear overview of the main trends, such as the general preference for cafe visits over fresh coffee consumption. Several figures are presented without context, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the five cities. To improve, you should focus on grouping the data logically and ensuring that the comparisons are explicit and easy to interpret.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'Firstly' and 'Lastly', the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak. Sentences often feel like a list of disconnected data points rather than a cohesive analysis. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the transition between cities and percentages is abrupt. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that you use cohesive devices more naturally to connect your observations, rather than just listing numbers.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'percentage' incorrectly (e.g., '43 percentage' instead of '43 percent'). There is also a lack of variety in the verbs used to describe trends; words like 'fluctuated' and 'rose' are used, but often without the necessary precision to describe the data accurately. The phrasing 'residence' is used incorrectly to mean 'residents'. To reach a higher band, you should work on using a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'accounted for', 'experienced a decline', or 'remained stable', and ensure you use nouns and adjectives correctly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The bar chart illustrate') and missing articles or prepositions (e.g., 'went Cafe' instead of 'went to a cafe'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'Many people went Cafe for coffee or tea in last four weeks highest 61 to 63 percentage of residence.' You need to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and pay closer attention to pluralization and article usage.
