Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons across the five cities. You successfully highlighted the overall trend that café visits were the most popular activity. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview that synthesizes the data effectively; the summary is somewhat descriptive rather than comparative. While you mention specific percentages, some of the data points are presented in a list-like fashion, which hinders the 'overview' aspect. To improve, focus on grouping the cities by similar trends rather than describing each city individually, which would demonstrate a higher level of data synthesis and better meet the requirements for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Looking from an overall perspective', 'Moreover', and 'To be more precise'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Moving ahead' to transition between cities. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could benefit from more varied linking words to connect the data points more fluidly rather than relying on repetitive sentence structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'calibrated', 'purchasing', and 'percentage'. However, there are several spelling errors and word-choice inaccuracies, such as 'caffe' (café), 'costumers' (customers), and 'less then' (less than). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede overall communication. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise vocabulary related to data reporting, such as 'proportion', 'figure', or 'trend', and ensure that common terms are spelled correctly. The repetition of 'count' and 'ratio' also limits the sophistication of your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'cities like Hobart and Melbourne has' (have) and 'percentage of people those go' (who go). There are also errors in preposition usage and comparative structures, such as 'almost less then 45%'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses and comparative adjectives.
