Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons across the five cities. You have successfully highlighted the trends for café visits, fresh coffee, and instant coffee. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive and lacks a more analytical synthesis of the data. For instance, while you mention the percentages, you could improve by grouping the cities based on their similarities or highlighting the most significant outliers more clearly. The overview is present but could be more concise to better reflect the overall trends rather than just stating that most people go to cafes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition to that', and 'On the other hand' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, though the structure of the final paragraph is slightly repetitive in its listing of percentages. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the necessary information about percentages and trends. You use terms like 'consumption', 'residents', and 'trend' appropriately. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'in large trend' instead of 'a significant trend' or 'people having coffee on the coffee shops' instead of 'in coffee shops'. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise collocations and a wider range of vocabulary to describe data trends, such as 'predominant', 'marginal', or 'fluctuated'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the the people', 'in last for weeks' (likely meant 'in the last four weeks'), and '%0%' (a typo for 50%). There are also issues with preposition usage, such as 'having coffee on the coffee shops'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for small errors and ensuring subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
