The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 7.5)
The bar chart compares percentage of residents of five Australian cities who bought coffee and tea and also about their habit of drinking.
Overall, visiting cafe` was the most popular activity in almost all cities ,whereas buying fresh coffee was generally the least common. In addition to instant coffee purchases were consistently higher than fresh coffee purchases across the five cities.
Around 64% of people in Melbourne and 63% in Hobart visited a cafe',making these the highest figures among five cities. Sydney followed at approximately at 61% while the proportions in Brisbane and Adelaide were lower.
Regarding coffee purchases, buying instant coffee was more common in all five cities. Hobert reached highest percentage of 54-55%, and Brisbane at around 53%. Adelaide stood at 50% while Melbourne and Sydney registered 48% and 46% respectively.
The proportion of buying fresh coffee was comparatively low. Sydney had the highest figure of 44%,while
Melbourne at 43%. Hobert accounted for 39% whereas , Brisbane and Adelaide had lowest percentage of 34-35% respectively.
