IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given graph illustrates the result of opinion poll conducted by a corporate from people in five cities of Australia, i.e. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Hobart.

Overall, the very first sight of graph shows a lot of fluctuation in data and this habit has increased in every city, while the figure of Melbourne was very high in terms of visiting a café.

According to given data it is clear that Australians are addictive to tea and coffee. In fact, in Sydney people often take fresh coffee, while in Brisbane consume less fresh coffee and approximately less than 35 percent. The figure to visit the café observed more fluctuation than any other and it spiked in Melbourne and surpassed 60 percent figure.

The instant coffee figure was highest for the Hobart and least for Sydney, in a while the visit figure of instant coffee was more steady than any other. The percentage of instant coffee and visit in a café was almost similar.
