The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The bar chart illustrates a study of people's drinking habit, buying coffee and tea ,in five different states in Australia.

Overall, people would rather go to a cafe and have their drink there, mostly in Melbourne, apart from purchasing fresh coffee and instant coffee.

Except for Adelaide, visiting a cafe is popular in all cities. In towns like Melbourne, Sydney and Hobart residents mostly went to cafe . Almost 60-65% of people choose cafes . In Brisbane a little over 55% of people go to cafes. In contrast , Adelaide shows an opposite trend , less than 50% of people prefer cafes.

When it comes to buying instant coffee , there are a little fluctuations in 5 states. Hobart hold the top position with a little less than 55% and Brisbane with over 50%. But only in Adelaide , 50% of individuals buy instant coffee compare to two other categories.

In terms of purchasing fresh coffee , Sydney top the chart with almost 45% . Adelaide and Brisbane have the lowest percentage of buying fresh coffee. In Melbourne and in Hobart over 40% and less than 40% of individuals buy fresh coffee.
