Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but struggles with clarity and accuracy. While you identify the high and low cities, the description of the data is repetitive and lacks precision. For instance, you state that percentages are 'between 60% to 65%', which is vague. Furthermore, the report fails to clearly distinguish between the different categories (buying habits vs. cafe visits) in a way that allows the reader to understand the specific trends. To improve, focus on selecting key data points rather than listing general ranges, and ensure that the categories are clearly defined as per the chart labels.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'The most...' and 'Where as,'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the comparison between cities and categories. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks flow. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast,' 'Similarly,' 'Regarding') and ensure that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one rather than simply listing facts.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'most buying cities' and 'most higher percentage' are unnatural and inaccurate. There is a lack of variety in reporting verbs and nouns, which makes the writing feel simplistic. You rely heavily on the words provided in the prompt rather than demonstrating an ability to paraphrase or use topic-specific vocabulary related to data analysis. To reach a higher band, you should work on using more precise terminology, such as 'proportion,' 'figure,' 'predominant,' and 'significant,' and avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include incorrect comparative forms ('most higher,' 'most lower'), subject-verb agreement errors ('The bought instant coffee... are'), and awkward sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and the use of commas. The range of structures is limited to simple sentences, with few attempts at complex grammatical forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, correct use of comparatives (e.g., 'higher' instead of 'most higher'), and ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree in number.
