The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given bar graph depicts the information about a survey on purchase of tea and coffee and consumption in last 4 weeks by individuals in percentage among 5 Australian cities : Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart.

Overall, the highest proportion is held by people who visited cafe in melbourne (64%) in previous 4 weeks followed by hobart (63%) for drinking tea or coffee. The least is observed in brisbane for the purchase of fresh coffee with a figure of 34. However purchase of fresh coffee is always less than 45% among all the 5 cities. It is evident from the chart that Brisbane and Adelaide are the only cities which purchased 50% instant coffee over the past 4 weeks.

Nevertheless individuals show a substantial interest in cafe hopping to have tea or coffee. This trend is observed in all the cities. The second position is seen in the purchase of instant coffee and lowest in buying fresh coffee. It is noticeable from graph that the number of residents who purchased fresh coffee remained same in brisbane and adelaide.
