Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. The description of trends is confusing and does not align with the provided chart. For instance, the claim that fresh coffee consumption is 'decreasing from start to mid' is not supported by the data. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly with 'as in the', which leaves the task unfinished. While some specific percentages are mentioned, the lack of a coherent summary and the incomplete nature of the response significantly hinder the ability to fully address the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into two paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. While some cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'Furthermore' are used, they do not effectively link the information. The referencing is often unclear, and the abrupt ending of the final sentence disrupts the flow of the text. The logical connection between the overview and the specific details is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the five cities.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'brought fresh coffee' (instead of 'bought') and 'represent approximately climbing trend'. The spelling error 'coeffee' also appears. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision, relying heavily on basic descriptors that do not accurately reflect the data presented in the chart.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'a numbers of people brought' and 'people who brought... represent'. Sentence structures are often clunky and lack the complexity required for higher bands. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas. The incomplete final sentence is a major grammatical and structural flaw that prevents the development of a complete thought.
