Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but struggles with clarity and accuracy. While you identify the three categories, the reporting of figures is often imprecise (e.g., 'nearly reaching to 45%'). The overview is weak; it lacks a clear synthesis of the main trends, and the grouping of cities in the final paragraph is confusing and fails to highlight the most significant differences effectively. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the three categories and provide accurate data points rather than vague descriptions. You need to focus on comparing the cities rather than listing them individually, which makes the report feel like a collection of disjointed facts rather than a cohesive summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by poor sentence structure and awkward transitions. Phrases like 'followed by, in Hobart. and the least one is' are grammatically fragmented and disrupt the flow. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often incorrect, such as starting sentences with 'Firstly' and 'Next' without a clear logical sequence. Referencing is also unclear; for example, the final paragraph mentions 'the rest two section' without clearly defining which data points are being discussed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence flows logically from the previous one is essential for a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on the words provided in the prompt. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the least one is bought fresh coffee' and 'sharp increase of 60-65%'. The phrasing 'found a bit decline' is unnatural. You should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for', rather than repeating 'bought' or 'reaching'. Developing a more precise academic vocabulary will help you convey information more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that impede readability. Many sentences are fragments or lack proper subject-verb agreement, such as 'went to a cafe for coffee or tea in Melbourne is leading'. Punctuation is also problematic, with unnecessary periods used mid-sentence (e.g., 'followed by, in Hobart. and the least one is'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in tense and preposition usage. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—and proofread for punctuation errors.
