Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the graph, the analysis is somewhat superficial. You have attempted to report data for the five cities, but the lack of sufficient detail and the failure to reach the minimum length means the task is not fully addressed. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and include more specific data points to support your comparisons. The current response is too brief to allow for a fully developed summary of the provided information.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs, which provides a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally awkward, such as 'In detail' and 'In case of the people habit'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the cities. To improve, use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, moving logically from one point to the next to enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'the people habit of going to a cafe' and 'purchasing of fersh coffee'. The repetition of basic structures and vocabulary limits the range. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuated', or 'a significant majority', and ensure correct collocations when describing trends and habits.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The rendered bar graph compare' (subject-verb agreement), 'it was climbed' (incorrect passive voice), and 'the people who bought... was just under' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice when describing data. Reviewing basic sentence construction will help reduce the frequency of these errors.
