Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully identifies the main features of the data and provides relevant comparisons. You have covered all three categories (cafe, instant coffee, fresh coffee) and mentioned all five cities. The overview clearly highlights the general trends, such as the popularity of cafes versus the lower consumption of fresh coffee. However, the analysis could be improved by ensuring all data points are accurate; for instance, you mentioned 34% for fresh coffee in Brisbane and Adelaide, but the chart shows these figures are actually for different categories. To reach a higher band, ensure that data interpretation is precise and that you consistently highlight the most significant differences between the cities.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Subsequently' to guide the reader through the information. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate different habits. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'the habits went considerable changes', which is slightly awkward. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother to ensure a more cohesive narrative throughout the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'prominent', and 'engaged in'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'habits went considerable changes' (should be 'underwent') and 'five location' (should be 'five locations'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, these small inaccuracies prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that pluralization is consistent throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'five location' (pluralization), '63% of resident' (should be 'residents'), and 'habits went considerable changes' (missing preposition 'through'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. You have a good grasp of basic sentence construction, but to achieve a higher score, you should aim for more error-free sentences and ensure that subject-verb agreement and pluralization are handled with greater consistency.
