Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have attempted to identify some main features, the analysis is incomplete and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the prompt. Several key data points from the chart are omitted, and the comparisons are somewhat superficial. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview of the data across all five cities and include specific figures to support your observations. The current length prevents a full development of the task requirements, leading to an under-developed response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is hindered by the lack of sufficient cohesive devices to connect ideas smoothly. Some sentences feel disjointed, such as the abrupt transition between the overview and the body paragraphs. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the data. To improve, use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') to create a more cohesive structure and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several awkward phrasings, such as 'most percent to bought' and 'on the top of list', which are not natural English collocations. You rely on basic terminology, and there is a lack of flexibility in how you describe the data. To improve, focus on using more academic vocabulary related to trends and statistics, such as 'proportion', 'majority', 'significant', and 'fluctuated', and ensure you use correct word forms (e.g., 'percentage' instead of 'percent').

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'most percent to bought'), missing articles ('on the top of list'), and awkward sentence structures. While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often marred by errors in subject-verb agreement and tense consistency. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
