Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is incomplete, as it cuts off abruptly after mentioning Brisbane, failing to cover the data for Adelaide and Hobart. Because the essay is under the 150-word minimum and fails to report on all five cities or provide a complete summary, it does not address all parts of the task. The overview provided is too brief and lacks sufficient detail to meet the requirements for a higher band. To improve, you must ensure you complete the analysis for all categories and cities presented in the chart while meeting the minimum word count requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is structured into an introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph, but the abrupt ending severely impacts the overall coherence. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'Whereas' and 'On the other hand', the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a concluding section or a fully developed body makes the logical flow difficult to follow. To improve, ensure that each city is addressed systematically and that the response is finished in its entirety.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'proportion', and 'residents'. However, there are several spelling errors such as 'Bisbane' and 'comapred', and some awkward phrasing like 'amount of individuals' (which should be 'number of individuals'). The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling of proper nouns and key terms related to data description.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'Unit of measurements is percentage' lacks an article, and 'the fresh coffee bought was less comapred to instant coffee' is grammatically awkward. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and missing articles throughout the text. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are frequent. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, article usage, and proofreading for minor slips.
