Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified some key features, the reporting is inconsistent and lacks a clear overview of the data. You have attempted to compare the cities, but the lack of precision in describing the trends (e.g., 'the sydney had a 44% to bought') makes the information difficult to follow. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the main trends and use accurate data points to support your observations. The under-length penalty is applied here as the response is 148 words.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently disrupted by fragmented sentences and poor sentence structure. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often inaccurate, such as 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore' used to connect disjointed ideas. Referencing is also unclear; for instance, 'its was appoximately 34 to 55%' does not clearly link back to the specific cities or categories being discussed. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic verbs like 'bought' and 'reached'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'freash coffee' (spelling error) and 'the sydney had a 44% to bought'. You struggle to use precise terminology to describe statistical trends, often using 'wentup' or 'discreased' instead of more academic alternatives like 'increased' or 'declined'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using a wider range of vocabulary related to data description and ensuring correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('the sydney had', 'melbourne city slightly decreased'), incorrect verb forms ('to bought', 'in increased'), and punctuation errors, such as unnecessary full stops in the middle of sentences. The sentence structures are mostly simple and often incomplete. There is a lack of complex structures, and the errors are pervasive enough to cause difficulty for the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be a good starting point for improvement.
