The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart compares the coffee and tea buying and drinking habits of people in five Australian cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart.

Overall, going to a café for coffee or tea is the most common activity in all cities, while buying instant coffee is the least common. Melbourne has the highest rates for café and restaurant visits, whereas Adelaide leads in buying fresh coffee.

In terms of visiting cafés, Melbourne is highest at 61%, followed by Brisbane at 55%. Sydney and Adelaide are similar at around 52-53%, and Hobart is the lowest at 47%. The figures for going to a café or restaurant for coffee or tea are slightly lower across all cities, but Melbourne again tops the list with 53%.

Regarding buying habits, Adelaide has the highest proportion of people who bought fresh coffee in the last 4 weeks at 46%. This is much higher than in other cities, where the figures range from 35% to 41%. In contrast, buying instant coffee is least popular everywhere, with Hobart recording the highest at 42% and Melbourne the lowest at 32%.
