Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While you have identified some main features, the analysis is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the data trends across all five cities. The data provided is inconsistent; for instance, you mention 62% for cafe visits, but the chart shows varying figures for different cities. You need to ensure that you select and report the most significant data points accurately and provide a more comprehensive summary of the trends to meet the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the logical progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the transition 'In contrast' which does not logically introduce the subsequent data. Referencing is also unclear; for example, the phrase 'In other cities' is vague and does not effectively guide the reader through the specific data points presented in the chart. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic verbs like 'went' and 'brought' rather than more precise terminology related to survey data, such as 'frequented', 'purchased', or 'consumed'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'on the behalf of' and 'less people', which should be 'fewer people'. To improve, try to incorporate a wider range of academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate for describing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'individuals habits of buying', 'most of the Australian love to go cafe', and 'Similary, In other cities, went to cafe for cofee'. These errors involve missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and subject-verb agreement issues. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic sentence structure and article usage.
