The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar graph illustrates the percentage of residents in five Australian cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Hobart) who participated in different coffee and tea buying and drinking habits over the last four weeks. The categories include buying fresh coffee, buying instant coffee, and visiting a café for coffee or tea.

Overall, it is evident that visiting a café for coffee or tea was the most popular activity in all five cities. Hobart had the highest percentage of café visitors, while Brisbane had the lowest. Additionally, the purchase of instant coffee was more common than fresh coffee in most cities, except for Sydney.

To begin with, in Sydney, around 44% of people bought fresh coffee, which was higher than in any other city. The figure for those who purchased instant coffee stood at approximately 45%, while about 61% of residents visited a café in the last four weeks. Similarly, in Melbourne, around 63% of residents went to a café, while 48% bought instant coffee, and about 42% purchased fresh coffee.

In contrast, Brisbane and Adelaide showed lower figures for café visits, at around 55% and 49%, respectively. Interestingly, instant coffee purchases were the highest in Hobart, with around 54%, while café visits also peaked in this city at about 63%. Fresh coffee purchases remained relatively low across all cities, with percentages ranging between 34% and 44%.
