Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the survey. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks a clear, logical comparison between the cities. For instance, the report mentions percentages for individual cities but fails to synthesize these into meaningful trends or comparisons across the categories. The overview is present but lacks clarity, as the phrasing 'highest ratio was occupied by went on Cafe' is grammatically awkward and imprecise. To improve, you should focus on grouping data points more effectively and ensuring that the 'main features' are highlighted with more analytical depth rather than just listing percentages for each city.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To commence with' and 'Further' are used, but the transitions between sentences are frequently disjointed. For example, the jump between describing 'bought fresh coffee' and 'bought instant coffee' lacks a smooth logical bridge. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the cities and the percentages is confusingly phrased. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'ratio', 'level', and 'bought'. There are also several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'went on Cafe' instead of 'visited cafes' and 'on ground level' to describe a percentage. The phrase 'proportion of bought instance coffee was escalating' is also imprecise. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more varied and precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', 'trend', 'fluctuated', and 'predominant'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'lowest ratio account for'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'who were went to the Cafe'), and missing articles. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'Brisbane was on ground level Covered 35% ,However Sydney was on the peak'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve your accuracy.
