The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates the results of a survey on the coffee and tea buying and drinking habits of people in five Australian cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart.

Overall, visiting a café for coffee or tea was the most popular activity in most cities. Melbourne recorded the highest percentage of people who went to a café, while Brisbane had the lowest figure for buying fresh coffee. Buying instant coffee was also relatively common in all five cities.

In Sydney, approximately 44% of residents bought fresh coffee, while around 46% purchased instant coffee. However, the proportion who went to a café was much higher, at about 61%. Melbourne showed a similar pattern, with roughly 42% buying fresh coffee and 48% buying instant coffee. The figure for visiting a café was the highest, at approximately 63%.

In Brisbane, only about 34% of people bought fresh coffee, compared with 52% who purchased instant coffee. Around 55% went to a café. In Adelaide, approximately 34% bought fresh coffee and 49% bought instant coffee, while 48% visited a café. Finally, Hobart had about 38% buying fresh coffee, 53% buying instant coffee and 62% going to a café.
